+This recipe is taken and adapted from She Knows

You'll need:
+6 slices applewood-smoked bacon
+refrigerated pie crust...I got a premade one in the freezer aisle!
+5 small Granny Smith apples
+1/4 cup sugar
+1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
+3 tablespoons maple syrup
+1 tablespoon unsalted butter

Bacon first:
+Preheat oven to 400 degrees
+Place a sheet of foil over a baking sheet
+Cut six pieces of bacon in half lengthwise
+Weave bacon strips together (see photo above)
+Place a sheet of foil on top and press down
+Bake for about 30 to 35 minutes (check after 15 minutes to make sure it doesn't need to be flipped)
+Take out and set aside!

Apple filling second:
+Turn oven down to 350 degrees
+Peel, quarter and core the apples
+Cut each quarter into two slices
+Heat 1 or 2 tablespoons of the bacon grease
+Throw those apple slices in!
+Saute over medium heat for 6-8 minutes (they should be softened)
+Add sugar and cinnamon
+Cook for three to five more minutes until filling becomes syrup-like
+Remove from heat

Last steps:
+Use a basting brush to lightly baste your refridgerated pie crust with one tablespoon maple syrup
+Fill your crust with apple mixture and dot the top with 1 tablespoon of butter broken up into pieces
+Bake for 15 minutes
+Coat both sides of the bacon lattice two table spoons maple syrup
+Remove your pie after the 15 minutes is up and place your basket weave on the top of the pie
+Bake for an additional 15 minutes
+Remove, turn off your stove, and let cool!

  1. Well, look at you! That pie looks divine! Who would have thought to pair bacon and apples together? For some reason, baking with apples has always seemed too intricate for me. Hopefully one day I'll be daring enough to try it, haha. Can't wait for tomorrow!! :)

  4. I want to eat your pie... I feel too lazy to bake it myself :) Though, I do find pies to be pretty much the easiest things to make once you get started. Yeah, I'd still rather eat YOUR pie.

And I didn't mean that in a gross way. I shouldn't have to say that, but I feel like you're going to make fun of me if I don't make a point to mention that.
