You know one of those days where everything that can go wrong does?
Well it happened. Here goes.
Thursday I was prepared to leave for Vancouver that night.
Until I discovered you need a passport to go to Canada. Mine had expired. I sincerely thought a birth certificate/drivers license would do it.
Nope.
Right now you're all wondering how I didn't realize this?
I really have no good excuse. I did see it on an old Canada government site that a BC/DL would work. Key word: OLD.
Somehow my boyfriend saved the day by scheduling me an emergency appointment with the gov passport agency.
I somehow got a passport in 3 hours. With a $60 rush fee. I was expecting a $500 rush fee.
PLUS. The employees there were awesome!
This makes up for any bad experience I've ever had at the DMV. (You can't get a passport at the DMV. But both being government agencies you get the picture....)
Setbacks didn't stop there. A ton of little annoyances came up through out the rest of the day. But by the end, I was just glad I was with someone who works for solutions rather than complaints. At the end of the day we laughed and said Sept 29 will become a day that lives in infamy.
The rest of the trip was a blast! We explored most of the city, rode bikes, ate great food, tried some new beer, and relaxed.
View from our hotel room.
Vancouver Port of Call. I really wanted to rock a Canadian tuxedo but I chickened out ;)
Steam clock in Gastown!
Possibly my favorite picture!!
Drinking a fuzzy navel at dinner
This should come as no surprise. And no I didn't write the "p" in poo.
Bacon cheddar popcorn was amazing and not as greasy as I thought it would be.
Digital orca and I ;)
Biking around Stanley Park.
Bridge over English Bay
The Pacific Northwest is magically gloomy and gorgeous.
Have you ever been to Canada?
