I didn't post earlier today because something really traumatic happened to me. Before you jump the gun, let me set the record straight. Sometime between Sunday morning and Monday morning I lost my mascara.
Light hair means translucent eyelashes. This wouldn't be much of an issue if I didn't have dark circles. Those dark circles take me from looking like a ten year old boy to looking like the grim reaper. I took a picture to show you guys...but it was too much even when I used filters on it.
THAT BAD ;)
THAT BAD ;)
So yeah, Monday I went to work with no mascara. I felt awkward the whole day. I may even done the avert the eyes to the floor thing. Monday night I had a date right after work with one of my best friends who just returned from Switzerland. I didn't have time to get mascara, and she encouraged me just to go with it. She even said she wouldn't wear makeup either ;) I haven't not worn mascara out in SO long that I decided to just do it.
Well, a little wine later and I completely forgot. Great right? No I mean, as in forgot to get some on my way home. Forgot about it when I woke up and couldn't remember why I set my alarm earlier. Didn't remember until I waited until THE VERY LAST MINUTE to do my makeup before work.
So I went day two without mascara. I tried to cover it up by using liquid eyeliner and pretty much painting my eyelashes. Which wasted five minutes I could have stopped at CVS. And did not do ANYTHING except maybe darken two individual lashes.
Finally I stopped at the drugstore tonight and bought the best mascara in the world. And I can say that because I've purchases probably 40% of the expensive mascaras at Sephora and was sincerely disappointed.
This stuff is hands down the best. You can layer it and it doesn't clump. It does everything it says it will.
Moral of this dramatic story? If I had to bring five things to an island....mascara would make the cut.
Who else LOVES this mascara?
I Loveee mascara too! I don't wear every day but when I do I put a ton on! Right now my favorite is lash blast by cover girl!

My eyelashes are really dark and long..however, I ALWAYS wear mascara. One day I did my make-up all cute, felt awesome about my gold smokey eyed look.. I had two people instantly ask me if I was crying.. worried, I quickly went to the bathroom and ralized I never put mascara on and the gold made my eyelashes look blonde and barely there. So I can feel your pain. lol
ReplyDeleteI have super light lashes but I didn't start wearing mascara til I was 19. GASP! How did I live without it?? That mascara is my all time favorite! It's the only one I use.
ReplyDeleteI love that mascara too! Mine is almost finish so I have to make sure I pick one up ASAP!
ReplyDeleteFinished*
ReplyDeleteI've been using that mascara for years. It's kind of like true love.
ReplyDeletei hear tons about this mascara, i tried it back in high school and i don't remember what it was like, but i never bought it again. i'm def going to pick it back up on my next mascara purchase. i also really love the l'oreal all black one (the one in the same package shape as the gold)
ReplyDeleteHaha! One time I forgot mascara and I told my friend it looks like I burnt them off (my eyelashes). She said, why do you look like a burnt moth? Just like telephone. Now the joke is if you forget mascara you look like a burnt moth. Although, I'm sure you were a cute burnt moth regardless of the dark circles you claim to have.
ReplyDeleteOh my! That would be horrible for me too!! I have said before that I would choose mascara as one of my items to have if stuck on an island too! That is the kind I use too! Love Voluminous!! Can't beat it!!
ReplyDeleteI also have super light lashes and being in a tropical country like the Philippines requires a lot of sun protection, including something for my eyes. And mascara is pretty good and wearing eyeglasses helps too. lol

haha, well, glad it all worked out! Even though I have dark hair, I also feel weird without mascara. And funny you should mention this, because I was just fishing twitter for some mascara advice. Here;s my questions: does it make racoon eyes? Most I have tried (even waterproof!) give me racoon eyes by 11 a.m. Blah.
ReplyDeleteI have never tried this brand, but I will now! You sold me.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to mail you backups. I have at least 2 things of mascara at all times to prevent this from ever happening. I have acne scars and what not but I will sometimes, SOMETIMES, venture out into the world without makeup... and when I say without makeup I mean sans everything EXCEPT mascara, mascara is key.
ReplyDeleteWhen we did an assignment in grad school our first week to introduce ourselves and tell a little about ourselves, we had to bring in like 5 objects that we could not live without. One of mine was mascara. I confessed that I could not even meet the UPS man without mascara. People thought I was nuts... I mean really though, is it THAT nuts? Um, I think not.
ME ME ME! i love mascara. i HATE going without it too.
ReplyDeletewill have to try this!
mascara and blush are the two things I cannot go without on my face... but for some reason I'm on day 3 of no mascara right now. it mainly has everything to do with being too lazy to dig it out of my suitcase. teehee
ReplyDeleteIs it bad that I would have either a) skipped work or b) been late because I would have stopped at the store?
ReplyDeleteProbably. But that's the truth!
I don't wear a lot of makeup but I have to have on mascara or I freak out!
:)
xo
I LOVE mascara!! Days when I don't wear make-up, I still wear mascara. I used to carry an extra tube in my purse so that I could re-apply if needed. I think I may have a problem. :)
ReplyDeleteHAHA! This completely cracked me up! Honestly, I feel like mascara is just a pain sometimes because it smears everywhere when I wash my face, and make up remover never removes it all, then I wake up with semi raccoon eyes (maybe I just have no clue what I'm doing with makeup? Probably). But when I don't wear it, I look like death warmed over.
ReplyDeleteI'm so picky with mascara though. I've been using Maybelline's Falsies for a solid year now and it's worked well for me, but I've heard good things about Voluminous and might have to go try it!
since we discussed it via twitter, i thought i'd come by and follow along! also, JUST IN CASE you ever need another mascara...have you tried falsies by maybelline?! that's my other go-to. :) also, i'm going to buy this voluminous shizz as soon as my diorshow runs out. i'm very curious now.
ReplyDeleteGahhh I feel naked if I don't wear mascara! This is definitely one of my faves too :)
ReplyDeleteHaving blonde eyelashes is the worst - I feel your pain lady!! I can't leave the house without mascara.
ReplyDeleteI love mascara too, I don't have blonde hair but regardless I think it makes every girls eyes look awake! It's my one makeup item I can't go without. Glad you got some more!
