Get yo hoardin on.

Have you seen the show Hoarders?

Let's just talk about this for a minute.

Some of the stuff on there will make you feel terrible to know the human race exists. It will make you cross your fingers that a meteor hits the Earth. Okay that's dramatic, but it's mind blowing.

Anyone see the lady with the rotten watermelon on her living room floor? And when they tried to throw it away she wanted to "save" some of the seeds in there?

Or what about those animal hoarders? You are NOT helping those animals, lady!

Basically that show has scarred me for life.

I'm paranoid about becoming a Hoarder.

So, I LOOOOOOOVE getting rid of things!

It feels amazing. I spring clean and toss things out once a year and twice a year if I can help it.

I honestly thought I didn't have that much stuff to move this time.

My trunk is full of goodwill things right now and I know I'm not done.

THREE bags of straight up trash.

I haven't even touched under my sink.

Luckily, it's super organized underneath there but I still need to downsize (A LOT) now that I'll be sharing a bathroom with someone else.

I realized I am not as organized as I thought I was :(

I want everything to have a place and be easy to move.

What's your rule for tossing things? Is it an amount of time since you've last used it?

  2. I looooove throwing stuff away too (or giving stuff away if it's worth giving). If I watch that show, you betcha there will be tossing immediately after.

  3. It feels SO liberating to throw stuff out! You're inspiring me to go through my house this weekend and weed out more junk!

  4. i love getting rid of things. i do a mini clean out every month and then a full clean out about 3 times a year where i pull everything out, put it in the middle of the room and it only goes back if it has been used recently and i really like it. otherwise it gets donated.

  6. I also fear becoming a hoarder! I don't know why that needed an exclamation point, but it did. I distinctly remember the lady that wanted to save the seeds. I actually think it was a pumpkin and not a watermelon...haha. She also ate something brown and shriveled out of a jar they found under garbage claiming it was candy.
I try to do a sweep of my whole apartment at least once a year. The closet gets a sweep every 6 months.

  10. I swear I would work as a personal organizer if I could. I actually helped a friend (before she got married) to clean out her house so her soon to be husband would have space to put his stuff. I love to clean out. I think it is almost as much of an obsession as keeping stuff. I go through my clothes each season (I box up my winter stuff during summer), and if I didn't wear it last year, I get rid of it. I don't hold on to much. The only exception is my kids drawings and work from school. Even then I get rid of most of it and only keep the really great stuff. I very rarely wish I held onto something I previously purged.

  11. Oh my gosh! Thats a scary show and should teach me a lesson! lol I dont keep trash or gross food but clothes and toys definitely need to go soon, they are taking over!

  12. I think the reason I love getting rid of things and not keeping so much is because I've moved so many times in my life. When you move frequently, it's pretty easy to get into the mindset that you don't want to have to move anything more than you absolutely have to!
